Music and signing have always been an important part of the Advent season. Sadly, most of the songs we hear on the radio nowadays are sub-scriptural. Some, in fact, are purely secular.

Historically speaking, the church has sung three canticles (i.e., songs) which are drawn from the opening chapters of the Gospel according to Luke.

Our new Psalter Hymnal contains all three songs, so we will be taking some time to learn them together.

More importantly, the Pastor will be preaching on these songs so we can learn how to magnify the Lord and to rejoice in hope. The schedule and recording are below:

12/08 – Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55)

12/15 – Zachariah’s Benedictus (Luke 1:68-79)

12/22 – Simeon’s Nunc Dimittis (Luke 2:25-35)
