Many people say, “I would believe in God if he would show me some sign…”
Such people are lying because the light of Christ has shone forth in the darkness, but men love darkness and hate the light (John 1:45, 3:19-21).
The seven signs recorded by John in his Gospel were written not convince naysayers of God’s existence, but to manifest the glory and goodness of Christ to his disciples that they might strengthen their faith and have life in his name (John 20:30-31).

This sermon was preached by Pastor McShaffrey on December 7, 2008 and is being re-posted after a good discussion amongst the young people at church about how biblically-informed Christians should think about “Christmas”.
Pastor’s preaching text was Ephesians 5:15-17, See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

After Paul successfully planted a Christian church in the city of Corinth, he moved on to his next mission field in Ephesus.
While laboring there, he heard that the corruption of Corinthian culture had so influenced the church that its testimony had been compromised and its future as a congregation was uncertain. So he wrote them a letter.
Our modern culture is not unlike that of ancient Corinth and Pastor Christian McShaffrey preached this series to help the modern church avoid the cultural and ecclesiastical dysfunction which is described in 1 Corinthians.

Who are your children’s friends? Do you know? Do you care?
Christian parents must not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits.
Pastor McShaffrey preached this sermon from 1 Corinthians 15:33 on November 6, 2011 in order to alert parents to the danger of evil company and to equip them to protect their children more faithfully. (more…)
