May Women Speak in Church?

For many people, especially in the developing “Christian feminist” movement, the question asked in the above title is not only astonishing but infuriating.

Nonetheless, 1 Corinthians 14:33b-36 does seem to teach that women should not speak in church. But is that really what the passage teaches?

John Newton on “Controversy”

Editor’s note: A minister, about to write an article criticizing a fellow minister for his lack of orthodoxy, wrote to John Newton of his intention. Newton replied as follows:

Dear Sir,

As you are likely to be engaged in controversy, and your love of truth is joined with a natural warmth of temper, my friendship makes me solicitous on your behalf. You are of the strongest side; for truth is great, and must prevail; so that a person of abilities inferior to yours might take the field with a confidence of victory.

McShaffrey’s First Visit

News – January 2002

Our current Pastor first visited our church to lead worship and to deliver a sermon entitled “Our God is a Jealous God” based on Exodus 34:10-17.

At the time, Mr. McShaffrey was in his second year of seminary and under the care of our Presbytery.
